#101 § 201 ORIENTAL BODYWORK THERAPIST Holistic Health § Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma ProgramCertified Holistic Health Practitioner™ Designation |
Students receive the following training:
a) Fundamentals of Oriental Bodywork and Namakoshi Shiatsu ~ 220 hours ~ Massage & Shiatsu Anatomy; Relaxation Massage and Warm-Up techniques; Namakoshi Shiatsu Fundamentals and Routine; Table: Prone, Supine, & Lateral Shiatsu Techniques; Chair Shiatsu Techniques; Practitioner Self Care, Grounding, Meditation in the 5 Phases of Change.
b) Acupressure & AcuChi ~ 200 hours ~ charting twelve meridian and eight extraordinary channels and location of acupressure points, Points of Caution; Basic overall Back, Neck, Shoulder and Whole Body release patterns; Body stretching and point work for chi balancing; Learning points and pathways of organ meridians and strange flows; Tongue analysis, muscle testing, pulse analysis, Yin/Yang and Five Element theory; Anatomy, Physiology; tendino-muscular meridians and their relevance with bodywork;
d) Case Studies and Healership skills ~ 40 hours: Studies incorporate Elemental Imbalances as seen in Western Pathologies in order for students to apply their Oriental Bodywork Skills to specific client needs.
e) Student Practical total 100 hours~ consisting of hands on practice in all Oriental Bodywork techniques in a professional supervised environment
OBT Students are required to take the following courses to obtain an Oriental Bodywork Therapist Certificate as part of the Certified Holistic Health & Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma:
Ethics of Touch ~ 30 hours ~ hand-on practitioners guide to creating professional, safe and enduring holistic health practices
Business Mastery ~ 30 hours ~ preparation of a Career Portfolio; Setting up a Professional Small Business and preparation of a personal Business Plan; Professional Ethics; Marketing and Advertising; Understanding Professional Associations and Liability Insurance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Overall CHHSP Diploma program includes 220 hours total of Anatomy (90), Physiology (80), Pathology (50) taught over the 11 month course and is picked up in all the subjects.
Oriental Bodywork Therapist, along with its components, is taught for 420 hours out of the 1320 Certified Holistic Health & Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma Program. An additional 420 hours is added when taking the full 11 month diploma program which includes #102 & #202 Integrated Shiatsu Practitioner Certificate, which allows the graduate to qualify for the Registered Shiatsu Therapist Designation from the Shiatsu Therapy Association of British Columbia.
Unique to this program is the fact that our graduates will have the ability to take graduate courses in two different streams ~ 1.Oriental Bodywork 2.Shiatsu Practitioner.
Upon successful completion Graduates will be able to perform the following Oriental Bodywork sessions with clients:
- 15 minute oriental analyses consultation
- 15 minute Chair Bodywork session
- 30 minute Neck, Shoulder and Back Table session
- 60 minute full Acupressure table session
- 60 or 120 minute combination table session using all oriental bodywork skills learned
- 60 minute Floor Shiatsu session
Graduates receive along with their Diploma as Certified Holistic Health Practitioner™:
- a Certificate in Oriental Bodywork that is recognized by the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada
- a Certificate by an authorized Shiatsu Teacher that may be applied to a Registered Shiatsu Therapist Designation, as recognized by other Shiatsu teachers and Associations;
This course develops a high quality, confident practitioner. Much attention is paid to graduates' ability to serve a wide cross section of the public and to continue in further advanced study.
